History of The Terrace

Conisbrough CastleSituated on leafy Castle Avenue, adjacent to Conisbrough Castle this beautiful Victorian detached house has seen many changes in its lifetime.

Beginning life as the Denaby Pits Manager’s Home, it then became a home for children involved in an exchange programme between Northcliffe School, the local secondary school and The Dartington Trust in Devon.

But in 1995 Doncaster West Development Trust (DWDT - then called Co-option 2000) through DMBC renovated the building with a City Challenge, Local Authority Grant for ‘The Terrace Community Enterprise Centre’ and DWDT’s offices.

Over the years DWDT have organised, co-ordinated and sought funding for many different social enterprise projects at The Terrace and around the locality. The Terrace has evolved and developed throughout the years and continues to be an on-going story, changing with the times and with demand.

Today the Terrace at Conisbrough is the ideal venue for all your training, conferencing and hospitality needs.
